Christmas reminds us that Christ came into this world from his home in heaven as God’s Ambassador to tell us of God’s love, to live a perfect life, to die for our sins, to be resurrected and return to heaven. He brought to an end the separation between man and God. When He returned to heaven, He is now seated on the right hand of God to make intercession for each of us who know him. Christ means the “anointed one,” as Peter replied to Jesus. An anointed one always makes an impact on those whom He serves. Jesus was and is the anointed Messiah that God had promised to send to save his people. He left heaven on an assigned purpose, mission and set time like any ambassador we see today. His impact is still ongoing and will never end until He returns and take us to where He lives.
MATTHEW 16:16
An ambassador is a citizen of one country sent by his home country and authority to represent his country in a foreign land and to carry out the purpose, mission and time period assigned. Jesus did all of this in just 33 years and his impact is still alive and well today. He had a temporary residence on earth, but his permanent residence is heaven. Christian men, do you realize that today you are an Ambassador for Christ living in a foreign land? Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:20 “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.” We are on assignment living in a foreign land for a temporary amount of time to represent Christ and what He gives us to do while here. When Jesus came that first Christmas, He started the process of reconciliation between God and man and He is the Ambassador we are to follow. When our United States ambassadors finish their work in a foreign country and return home, they take home their support team. Jesus finished his work and is still taking his team members (those who have trusted him) home to heaven. In one respect, Jesus is still living temporarily here on earth through us and we are on his team as adopted “sons of God.” That is our new birth like the new virgin birth of Christ on Christmas.
