I Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
For more than two years the word, COVID, has generated fear, anxiety, concern, worldwide attention, economic depression, and impact into our entire culture and way of life. It has impacted the world like nothing else in years and even in all of history. Sickness and death follow the COVID path around the whole world, and some theologians write of a preview of the end times since the pandemic is worldwide and unsolved. Vaccines do offer some protection, but we are finding that they do not always protect and have limitations as new variants arise and attack even the vaccinated. COVID is an enemy that must be taken seriously. It is no respecter of individuals and carries a death threat to many people. Billions of dollars are being expended trying to find a permanent treatment, cure, and victory, but none have arisen yet. The recent burst of the OMICRON variant confirms that victory is still being sought.
I Corinthians 15:57
As I thought about the word, COVID, and the impact the disease is having on the world and even us as individuals, I began to think about the very letters in the word itself and how it could be analyzed according to a spiritual focus and God’s Word. Based on Scripture and our verse this week from I Corinthians 15:57, let me give you what God laid on my heart. The word COVID as it relates to this verse and the Christian can be looked at like this: Christ Offers Victory Instead of Death. This is the only permanent cure and vaccine for the disease of sin which will result in death without the Lord Jesus Christ. Every person already has the virus of sin and death since Adam and Eve in the garden. Man searches for the cure and will search until he finds Jesus. Jesus’ permanent cure takes only one action or vaccination of accepting him as Savior. It is eternal and never requires a booster. We would all thank someone who could develop a permanent cure for COVID. If only the world would accept and be thankful for Christ Offers Victory Instead of Death. Have you accepted this COVID in your life?
