Leaders and Trust

Posted by Dean Gage

Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.…"

The world events and war this past week in Ukraine have alarmed us of how fragile the world order is and the depravity and evil of powerful leaders in history and now. Is the situation similar to Hitler and World War II? Absolutely! Should Putin be put on trial for “War Crimes”? Absolutely, as we see the brutal murder of innocent women and children. What happens in the near future cannot be predicted with certainty. We must take confidence that God knew in advance that this was to happen. He was not surprised, and most of all, He is in control. So how do we handle what is happening, and how are we to lead our homes and children in these troubling times?

 “Leaders and Decisions”

Psalm 46:10

Leaders must lead from a position of trust, courage, and strength. When we read the words, “Be still” that does not mean to do nothing and wait. It means to still our hearts and our anxieties and place our trust in God. It means to lead from the position of knowing that He is God and is in control of world events. This is what we are to tell our children and show them what it means to trust in Him because He is God. In our family time, we should prioritize praying for the people of Ukraine and asking God to protect them and walk with them in their courage and fight. The physical war may not be on our homeland, but it is on our hearts and way of life. It is still what most wars have been about from the beginning of mankind. It is what all wars will be about until Jesus returns. The common denominator is the battle of good versus evil. We know who will win in the end as that victory has already been won on the cross. We must never forget this and lead from this position of absolute strength and victory. We are to, “Be still and know that I am God.”
