Leaders Focus on NEXT

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way and when you lie down, and when you rise.”

Our church is entering a special time in her life as we look towards celebrating her 100th anniversary in 2025. We are committing to a vision and plan for the NEXT 100 years to reach, disciple and mature the generations of today and those to come. Our theme is that each generation will reach the NEXT generation. So many of our current problems in America today are directly related to leaders not obeying God’s command found in Deuteronomy 6. As the family goes, so goes the culture or society. Overall, family leadership has not been obedient or diligent to teach, model and live out God’s Word as commanded in Scripture. As the called leader of the family and the Next generation in his own home, the husband/father is called to teach God’s Word and to live it out in the everyday walk of life. Actions speak louder than words and that is why this command includes both teaching and applying God’s Word to every event in daily life.

Leaders Focus on NEXT

Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Preparing the NEXT generation is the responsibility of every leader and it applies to family, work/career, church and community. However, family comes first in priority and your NEXT generation lives right in your home. If you don’t teach them truth, the enemy will teach them error. The deceptions and errors of today’s culture surround us as never before and there are more them than us. The battlefield is vicious, unrelenting, vocal, committed and growing. God is not surprised, knows exactly what is happening and is totally in control. Be committed to this command from Deuteronomy and live with eternal confidence as a leader who focuses on the NEXT generation. We must have the words commanded by God on our own heart and not leave a gap in the generations in which God blesses us to live. Your job is much more important than you can even realize so don’t take it lightly or you may lose the very generation under you own roof. Deuteronomy 6 ends with verse 25: “And it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to do all this commandment before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us.”
