John 6:68 Simon Peter answered Jesus, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
After many of Jesus’ followers turned away and no longer walked with him, he asked his disciples, “Do you want to go away as well?” Peter answered Jesus with our Scripture verse this week, “To whom shall we go?” His reply is more of a statement than a question declaring there is no one else they should go to. It could even be translated, “To whom would we go?” No one could replace Jesus or had the words of eternal life. We should always claim this truth and respond like Peter. Jesus is the answer to every question and situation. As a leader, we must always go to him for wisdom, guidance, and promise.
John 6:68
C. S. Lewis made this statement, “To walk out of His will is to walk into nowhere.” If Peter and the other disciples had walked away, they would have walked out of God’s will into nowhere. When we face issues in life, we must remember no one, including ourselves, knows where we need to be better than Jesus. As a leader, we will face many issues: personal, family, other people, work, and more. When we find ourselves in these situations, we must first go to Jesus. He has the words we need to hear and obey. Peter ended his response in verse 69 with these words, “We have believed and have come to know that you are the Holy One of God.” As a leader, we must always go to the Holy One of God. If not, we face walking into nowhere.
