John 8:32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

I recently read an article (Americans Have Lost Faith in Truth) on a survey done by George Barna who is the Christian version of the Gallup Poll. He alarmingly found that a 54% majority of American adults now believe that truth is subjective and relative and that there are no moral absolutes. He further states this is the default view with most people saying truth is subjective and their personal standard. Interpersonal deception is becoming common and significantly lowers the level of trust toward other people and institutions, including the church. It is tearing apart our society and is attacking America’s founding principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This majority views morality as a mere creation of mankind and not the standard from the God of creation. In reality, it is a rejection of God’s laws and truth.

The Christian leader of today must live by the truth of God’s Word and lead those whom God has given him to lead in the same way. We are now in the minority, but the absolute truth is that our minority will win. What are we to do as Christian leaders? We are to believe, accept, and show what Jesus said in John 14:6 is absolute truth, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.” Notice that Jesus did not say He knew the way or would show the way to be politically correct. No, He said with absolute certainty, “I am the way.” The government is becoming a god to our culture, and whatever it says seems to be what is accepted. Moral responsibility and the belief in absolute truth are being attacked and diminishing.  And, that’s the truth.  We do not have to be and should not be discouraged.  Christians who live by the truth of Jesus Christ know the truth that sets them free and gives them eternal life. It is a truth that a leader must share in his own family and work. Our work is cut out for us, so get in the game and play to win.
