Leaders Stand in the Gap

Posted by Dean Gage

Ezekiel 22:30 “I searched for a man among them who would repair the wall and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land so that I might not destroy it, but I found no one.”

God was upset when He gave this message to Ezekiel because He could not find a man of godly character and integrity who could stand in the gap on behalf of the people living in the wickedness of the times. God was looking for even one man who was living for him to stand in truth and righteousness and not compromise. God is still looking for men today who will stand in the gap between Him and the culture in which we live. This is our calling as leaders today, and these leaders are becoming fewer and fewer. However, those that are willing to stand today are stronger than ever and take seriously the responsibility of leading their families in a godly way.

 “Leaders Stand in the Gap”

Ezekiel 22:30

We have all been shocked at the school shootings in Uvalde this past week and how evil and Satan must have indwelled the eighteen-year-old shooter. A common finding of young men committing mass murders is a broken home and dysfunctional family upbringing. The effects of the breakdown of the Godly and Biblical home are becoming more prevalent and shocking every day. We must train our children in the way they should go and provide the authority and discipline needed in their lives. We can say that we have a “G” issue. Yes, there are some gun issues that might help, but the real issue is a God issue. Men must understand and accept their calling from God to live as an example of Christ as they lead their wives and children with passion and commitment. This is what God expects and assigns to men to stand in the gap between God and the darkness in the world. It is no guarantee that evil will not raise its ugly head in some of those led in the right way. However, we all know that God is the only real answer today, tomorrow, and forever. Today will you choose to be one of those men and stand in the gap? God is searching for you, He wants to strongly support you, and it starts with your heart. Here is what He promises in II Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is fully his.”
