Strong, Courageous and Love

Posted by Dean Gage

I Corinthians 16:13-14 “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.”

The Supreme Court made two landmark decisions this past week which have been answers to the prayers of Christians for years. It has taken 50 years to overturn the Roe decision on abortion. The second answer is to protect an individual’s right for a coach to bow in prayer at a football game. We all know the reaction to the abortion issue and how the media has given it top priority and almost unlimited supportive press. We have witnessed the angry demonstrations and violent outbursts from the pro-choice and abortion advocates who state their cause is just beginning as they attack from every angle. They ignore and disregard the rights of the unborn baby boys and girls and God’s Word on murder. Moral and spiritual values have no impact on their attitudes and actions. They simply don’t know Jesus and God’s Word.

 “Strong, Courageous and Love”

I Corinthians 16:13-14

What are we to do as Christian leaders and what stand and position should we take? As our Scripture this week states, we must be on the alert, be firm in our faith, be strong and courageous and do everything in love. We must not back down, and we must be strong and courageous for the truth. We cannot be arrogant and crow about the decision but stand and exhibit God’s love to those who oppose. It would be easy to swell up with pride and boast in the victory, but we must remember that “he who is convinced his will is of the same opinion still.” Our love should be strong and courageous because we know that we are standing on the truth of God’s Word. However, our love must be expressed through God’s Word and in our actions to care and support those who face abortion and to provide for the babies to be born. Babies in the womb are precious to God because He placed them there according to Psalm 139: 13-16 which those who support abortion have probably never read or reject. Out of love, we must see them as precious and love them and the mothers who carry them.
