Psalm 11:3 “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
In the last few weeks, I have read many articles by some of our most respected and fundamentally sound Christian leaders about the destruction of the moral and spiritual foundations of our nation. The anti-Christian culture is taking over at a pace that is alarming and may be approaching a point of no return. Unless Christians commit to prayer and take a stand, God may say that enough is enough. It is time for Christians to pray, lead, and ask God to intervene. I do not normally write from an alarming position, but now is the time for Christians to speak out against the forces of evil. We have lived so long with the attitude that national failure could not happen to us, but it is now occurring before our very eyes. It should be a sobering reality to look at the absolute facts of history and see that "no nation has ever survived its own success. No country or nation or civilization has reached the top and stayed there permanently. All leading cultures, industries, and countries of the past who rested on their laurels and turned their back on God have been knocked off their pedestals.” What we are seeing transpire before us today in our country should be telling us that the American dream is coming to an end. The greatest republic in the history of mankind is in deep trouble as we see our foundations being destroyed by leaders and an accepting electorate who does not follow God’s Word or the God of the universe. Isaiah 5:20-21 “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil……Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes.”
JOHN 15:2
The question to Christians is: “What can the righteous do?” We must realize that the time to lead is NOW. The seven verses of Psalm 11 tell us what we are to do. It tells us to take refuge in the Lord and God is in his holy temple and throne in heaven. His eyes see what is happening and the upright shall behold his face. Edmund Burke stated, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Is this one of the reasons that we see our foundations being destroyed today? While we individually may not be able to change the course of our country, our primary responsibility is to protect the Biblical foundations in our lives, homes, and churches. God has always protected his own and we must make sure that those we lead are also his own. As some are currently saying that America will not come back, we must take the personal responsibility that those under our care will not be caught up in the political correctness of our times. We know what to do and the time to lead is NOW. Remember: “Life is like a field of newly fallen snow; where I choose to walk, every step will show.”
