Psalm 143:10 “Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; Your spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.”
As spiritual leaders, we should always seek God’s will as we live and lead in our own lives, in our families, and in our home church. Our goal should be to seek and obediently follow God’s will in every area of our lives. He is our God and wants to teach us to do His will in all that we do in this world. God has a plan for our world and for our own lives as we live in it. He does not do anything by accident and is always intentional. He knows the plans He has for our lives, even though we sometimes have a limited understanding. It is through God’s Word and the Holy Spirit that we can see and follow His will for us. It is an important act of obedience in our leadership that we trust His will.
Psalm 143:10
Every day, we face many leadership decisions where we are to seek, trust, and obey His will. We must accept His will for the culture in which we live and be certain that He is in control and knows what He is doing. We must have the courage to meet challenges that seem to go against His will and to remain committed and faithful to His Word. When the Psalmist says to teach us to do His will, it also means that we have a teachable spirit and heart. When we have this heart and attitude, He gives us the courage and wisdom to lead and live in uprightness. It will also give us the perseverance to endure trials, temptations, and apathy. God’s will for us is to do what He calls us to do and what is best for His kingdom and those whom He has given us to lead. Start each day with this prayer: “Lord, teach me to do Your will today and every day.”
