Special Needs

The Special Needs Ministry at Central serves to fulfill the call of Christ to love others and make disciples.

We desire to give individuals with special needs the opportunity to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and friend and to help everyone discover their unique set of gifts and talents which God has given us so that we may steward them well, serving others.

As a ministry we strive to meet the needs of every person, of any age who have difficulty functioning to their potential in the typical church setting. We meet these needs by offering support through inclusion across ages and abilities, unique service and equipping opportunities, continuous training for those serving in the Special Needs Ministry, sensory-specific designed classrooms and curriculum, and an environment that lets you know that your abilities do not define your potential relationship with Christ or the impact your life can have for His Kingdom.

A NOTE FROM US

Howdy!

Welcome to the Special Needs Ministry at Central! We hold to an inclusive ministry philosophy, believing that God desires ALL to come into an intimate relationship with Him and for ALL to become vital members of both the local and global body of Christ. Ability does not determine God’s plans and purposes for your life! He can use you in mighty ways, just how you are and we are excited to get to know you and live life alongside you! We encourage you to explore this site and let us know if you have any questions!

We have inclusion opportunities, and a special needs wing which allow children with special needs to thrive in the environment that best serves them on any given Sunday.

Our main rooms are located in the main church building in our B-Wing downstairs. We serve kids in the special needs wing both hours (during the church service and life groups.)

The Special Needs classrooms are specially designed to accommodate those various disabilities. Some of these accommodations include: modified equipment, sensory activities, light covers/alternative lighting, an overall comfortable and safe environment, and Christ-centered multi-sensory curriculum to best minister to each child.

Children with special needs are supported and included into the following programs available to all K-5th graders:

INCLUSION WITH SUPPORT

Life Group hour is at 11am-12pm
Ages 6th-12th grade (including 19+ programs)
Upstairs, Student Wing

The Student Ministry meets for Life Groups upstairs in the main building and for our teens who are mainstreamed, this is where they will journey to once they connect with their buddy (if applicable).

During the Service hour, we encourage our families to worship together if your child is best served in this fashion. Many of our students with special needs serve as helpers during this hour as well in both our children's ministry and/or special need's ministry with an aide, alongside their typical peers who also serve.

Our focus on Sunday mornings is to provide a structured and compassionate environment to help each individual grow in their walk with Christ!

Teens with special needs are supported and included into the following program, available to all 6th-12th graders:

Wednesday Checkpoint: 6:00pm-7:30pm

*If you have a 6th-12th grader with special needs who desires to attend Checkpoint on Wednesday night, please contact the Special Needs Director.

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young. Set an example for the believers in what you say and in how you live. Also set an example in how you love and in what you believe. Show the believers how to be pure.” 1 Timothy 4:12
